Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro on Thursday denied reports that she is considering running for a Senate seat in the 2028 elections.
Asked about rumors that she is being urged to seek a Senate post, Castro said it is not something she is currently considering, noting that the position does not align with her career path.
“Ang hirap ng trabaho niyan. Siguro kung trabaho lang ng pagiging senador, hindi ganoon kahirap, pero hindi yata siguro diyan 'yung linya ko,” Castro said during an interview on DZRH's Dos Por Dos.
Castro also downplayed her chances of entering the 2028 senatorial race, saying there are likely to be more popular and well-known candidates who would receive more votes from the public.
“Siguro mas maraming sikat, mas maraming kakilala, mas maraming popular na mas iboboto ng tao,” she added.
Castro said it would be difficult to make definitive statements about a possible political bid at this point, emphasizing that a Senate run is not currently on her mind.
“Sa ngayon, mahirap magsalita kasi parang hindi talaga siya ang nasa isip ko. Siguro kung gusto ko manalo, dapat lahat pini-please ko. Dapat walang nagagalit sa akin,” she said.
