Criminal charges have been filed against three cadets arrested over the alleged maltreatment of underclassmen inside the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), authorities confirmed.
In a report by RH Edniel Parrosa on DZRH’s Dos Por Dos on Friday, April 10, PNPA officials said complaints for violations of the Anti-Hazing Law have already been filed, and the suspects are now in the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
Aside from the criminal cases, the cadets are also facing separate administrative proceedings.
In a statement released Friday morning, the National Police Commission strongly condemned the incident and announced the formation of a special task force to investigate the matter.
“The National Police Commission expresses its strongest condemnation of the reported hazing incident within the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA). This act is not only utterly alarming—it is a blatant violation of the law, a direct affront to human dignity, and absolutely intolerable,” Napolcom said.
“The PNPA is an institution of learning entrusted,” it added.
“The NAPOLCOM shall immediately constitute a Task Force to conduct a thorough, impartial, and expeditious investigation, with the sole objective of establishing the truth and ensuring accountability,” the statement further read.
Meanwhile, a source from the Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed to DZRH News that more than 20 plebes, or first-year cadets, were allegedly punished by three third-class cadets on Good Friday through the application of chemicals on their bodies.
Photos obtained by DZRH showed burns and wounds sustained by the victims, particularly on their backs.

Napolcom emphasized that aside from the three suspects, individuals with indirect participation in the incident will also be subject to investigation.
Authorities added that the tactical officer of the day, who was responsible for enforcing discipline and protection within the barracks, has been temporarily relieved from duty following the discovery of the hazing incident.
