Filipino gymnastics sensation Carlos Yulo proved once again why he’s among the world’s best after clinching the gold medal in the men’s vault final at the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships held Saturday in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The 25-year-old double Olympic gold medalist delivered two stunning vaults, scoring 15.200 in his first and 14.533 in his second, for an average score of 14.866. He edged out Artur Davtyan of Armenia (14.833) and Nazar Chepurnyi of Ukraine (14.483).

Yulo entered the final as the top qualifier with 14.750 points and lived up to expectations, maintaining composure throughout the competition.

This victory marks Yulo’s third World Championship gold, following his wins in the floor exercise in 2019 and vault in 2021. He also bagged a bronze medal in the men’s floor exercise on Friday.

The Filipino gymnast’s latest achievement adds to his growing list of milestones, including his historic performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he became the first Filipino to win multiple gold medals in a single Olympic Games, one each in the vault and floor exercise events.

Yulo’s world-class performance once again places the Philippines on the global gymnastics map, inspiring a new generation of Filipino athletes to reach for Olympic glory.
