Camarines Norte has suspended classes at all levels, for both public and private schools, on Monday, July 6, until further notice, in view of an “alleged security threat.”
“This precautionary measure is being implemented in light of an alleged security threat directed at educational institutions,” Governor Ricarte Padilla said in an advisory issued on July 5.
“While the matter is being assessed by proper authorities, the Provincial Government is acting with utmost caution to ensure the safety and well-being of our learners, teachers, school personnel, and the general public,” he added.
The governor urged the public to remain calm and await further updates.
Security in schools all over the country has recently been challenged, with numerous reports of school violence cropping up across various provinces. The notorious Tacloban shooting incident on June 22 claimed the lives of three students; on July 3, four minors were arrested for allegedly stabbing another minor in Las Piñas City.
