The Philippine National Police Forensic Group (PNP-FG) on Monday has released the results of the medico-legal autopsy conducted on the remains of former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Usec. Maria Catalina Cabral.

Based on the official autopsy report, Cabral died from "blunt traumatic injuries to the head, trunk, and left upper and lower extremities due to a fall from height."

According to the autopsy findings presented by the PNP, Cabral sustained multiple injuries, including fractures to the left femur, ankle, tibia, and fibula, as well as a dislocated hip joint.

The PNP-FG also noted that the approximate time of death was between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on December 18, 2025, the same day she was found lifeless along Kennon Road in Tuba, Benguet.

Earlier, the PNP Forensic Group confirmed that Cabral tested positive for Citalopram, an anti-depressant medication.

In a statement from Camp Crame, the PNP noted that one of the known side effects of Citalopram includes "suicidal behavior," which is now being considered as part of the ongoing investigation.

Further, the PNP said the postmortem fingerprints taken from the cadaver matched the computer-generated fingerprints from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), confirming that both sets of fingerprints were made by one and the same person.
