The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has placed its managed airports on heightened alert in preparation for the expected influx of passengers during the Holy Week observance.
CAAP Director General Raul del Rosario said passenger traffic is projected to increase by seven to 10 percent, equivalent to around 550,000 travelers, compared to the more than 505,000 recorded during the same period last year.
To manage the surge, CAAP has directed all airport and area managers to implement heightened operational readiness measures, including the deployment of additional personnel and stricter security protocols.
Help desks will also be set up in major airports to assist passengers and minimize travel disruptions.
Authorities are advising travelers to arrive at the airport at least two to three hours before their flights, monitor real-time flight updates, and ensure all required travel documents are prepared to avoid delays during the peak travel period.
