The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has instructed the Bicol International Airport (BIA) to ensure seamless air travel in spite of grounded aircraft.
In a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued on September 7, CAAP Director General retired Lt. Gen. Raul Del Rosario ordered the BIA to take prompt measures to minimize passenger inconvenience, improve flight handling capacity, and prioritize safety.
At present, a Cebu Pacific aircraft, while undergoing a meticulous manufacturer-recommended inspection, has been parked at Bay 1 since September 3. Another, which experienced technical issues on September 6, has been relocated to Taxiway B.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and CAAP are both closely coordinating with airline operators to ensure continually efficient airport operations and curb disruptions.
The NOTAM is in effect from 12:06 p.m. on September 7 to 8:00 p.m. on September 9.
