The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is closely monitoring flight operations following heightened tensions in the Middle East, which have disrupted several international flights.

Since February 28, a total of 23 international flights have been cancelled and three diverted due to safety concerns and airspace restrictions.

Affected airlines include Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Qatar Airways, Gulf Air, Etihad Airways, and Emirates. Among the diverted flights, two were Philippine Airlines and one was Qatar Airways.

CAAP Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul Del Rosario assured the public that the agency is coordinating closely with airlines, airport authorities, and international aviation partners to maintain passenger safety.

“We are closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East and are in constant coordination with airlines, airport authorities, and international aviation partners. The safety and security of passengers and flight operations remain our highest priority,” he said.

The disruptions follow directives from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez to ensure proactive measures in protecting Filipino passengers and crews abroad.

CAAP advised affected passengers to coordinate directly with their airlines for rebooking, refunds, and updated flight information. Authorities continue to monitor developments in the Middle East and will adjust flight operations as needed to ensure safety.
