The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has strongly condemned the fatal shooting of the acting airport manager of Puerto Princesa International Airport in Palawan on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

In a statement released Thursday, CAAP expressed grave concern over the senseless act of violence that claimed the life of Joanna Jonson‑Infante, who was shot while walking toward a church in Barangay San Pedro in the late afternoon.

“We call on the appropriate authorities to conduct a thorough and expeditious investigation and ensure that those responsible are held accountable under the law,” CAAP Director General LtGen Raul L. Del Rosario (Ret) said, offering the agency’s full cooperation with local law enforcement.

Infante was rushed to a hospital after being shot multiple times by an unidentified gunman, according to initial police findings, but she succumbed to her wounds despite emergency medical efforts. A special investigation task group has been activated to pursue leads and apprehend the perpetrator.

CAAP also conveyed its thoughts and prayers to the victim’s family during this critical time, emphasizing trust that authorities will pursue the case with urgency and deliver justice.

The incident has prompted intensified police operations in Puerto Princesa City as investigators urge anyone with information to come forward.
