The Land Transportation Office (LTO) and other government agencies inspected public buses and conducted drug tests on drivers at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) on Monday ahead of the expected increase in travelers during Undas 2026.
LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao led the joint operation with Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Don Artes, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group on Oct. 26.
The operation was part of the government's Oplan Biyaheng Ayos – Undas 2026, which aims to ensure the roadworthiness of public buses and the fitness of their drivers before the holiday travel rush.
The inspections sought to ensure that buses were in proper operating condition, while drug testing aimed to help determine whether drivers were fit to transport passengers safely.
“Kaligtasan ng ating mga pasahero ang pangunahing layunin natin ngayong Undas,” Lacanilao said, stressing the need to check both vehicles and drivers before they travel.
The LTO said it would continue coordinating with the MMDA, PDEA, PNP-HPG and other agencies to maintain safety and order at transport terminals and along major routes during the holiday period.
