Eight bus companies have rolled back unauthorized fare increases at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) following warnings from transport authorities, officials said.

According to Jason Salvador, Corporate Communications and Government Relations head of PITX, the bus firms complied with the warning and show cause order issued by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

The unauthorized fare hikes reportedly ranged from ₱50 to ₱200.

Salvador noted that Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Giovanni Lopez had earlier warned operators of possible franchise suspension or total revocation if they continued implementing the illegal fare increases. He also cautioned other bus companies still refusing to adjust fares to explain their actions before the LTFRB.

Meanwhile, passenger volume at PITX is expected to exceed 200,000 on Holy Wednesday, driven by increased reliance on public transport following recent fuel price hikes.

Despite initial challenges due to reduced trips by partner operators, Salvador assured the public that special permits have been issued to allow additional bus deployments, ensuring the terminal can accommodate the surge of travelers during the Holy Week rush.
