Due to extensive damage and other effects of the recent persistent rainfall brought by the Southwest Monsoon, or “Habagat,” and past storms, Bulacan has declared a State of Calamity pursuant to Provincial Resolution No. 708, s. 2026, announced the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) office in Bulacan.

The declaration issued on Thursday, August 20, aims to expedite government response to affected Bulakenyos’ immediate needs, including relief assistance in the form of food and non-food items, medical aid, and rehabilitation, among other things.

Additionally, the declaration is expected to enable faster implementation of rehabilitation and recovery measures for affected communities, as well as mechanisms to safeguard the public from unjust price hikes on primary commodities and other basic needs.

“Sa harap ng panibagong hamon, nananatiling nakatuon ang pamahalaan sa kaligtasan, kapakanan ng bawat Bulakenyo,” the office wrote.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Tropical Depression Neneng and the Habagat are forecast to weaken, which may lead to generally improved weather conditions.
