The Provincial Government of Bulacan has declared February 3, 2026, as a special working holiday across the entire province in commemoration of the 99th birth anniversary of Gat Blas F. Ople, one of Bulacan’s most distinguished sons and a revered statesman in Philippine history.
The declaration was made pursuant to Memorandum DRF-01202026-024, underscoring the province’s recognition of Ople’s enduring contributions to public service, labor reforms, and nation-building. Government offices, schools, and private establishments in Bulacan are expected to observe the special working holiday, allowing employees to report for work while participating in commemorative activities.
Gat Blas F. Ople served in various high-ranking government positions, including as Secretary of Labor and Employment, Senate President, and Secretary of Foreign Affairs. He is widely credited for championing workers’ rights, overseas Filipino workers’ welfare, and institutional reforms that strengthened labor and foreign service policies.
Provincial officials said the observance aims not only to honor Ople’s legacy but also to inspire Bulakeños, especially the youth, to emulate his commitment to public service, integrity, and patriotism. Commemorative programs and educational activities highlighting his life and achievements are expected to be held throughout the province.
