The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) welcomed global credit rating agency Moody’s Ratings' latest credit analysis, which highlighted the Philippines’ “strong monetary policy framework, resilient banking system, and robust external buffers.”

"Moody's assessment affirms the Philippines’ resilience amid evolving domestic and global risks. The BSP remains committed to safeguarding price and financial stability, while prudently managing the country’s foreign exchange reserves,” BSP Governor Eli Remolona, Jr. said.

The central bank has demonstrated an ability to respond to “changing economic conditions, easing policy when inflationary pressures were subdued and tightening as higher energy prices increased inflation risks in 2026.”

Moody’s said this has helped keep inflation expectations “anchored” in view of evolving price pressures, adding that the BSP’s banking system is “well capitalized, profitable and competently managed” due to vigorous oversight, the implementation of international standards and measures securing financial stability.

The report also noted that the country’s external position is backed by significant foreign exchange reserves and maintains sources of external financing.

Additionally, Moody’s said remittances from overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), revenues from the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector, and foreign direct investments continue to support household spending, economic growth, and the country's external resilience.
