Former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan First District Engineers Brice Hernandez and Jaypee Mendoza are now under the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) as of Monday, January 19.
NBI personnel served Hernandez’s and Mendoza’s warrant of arrest at the Senate Detention Facility. Before the Office of the Senate Sargeant-at-Arms facilitated their turnover, both underwent a medical check-up as part of standard operating procedure, reported RH 28 Raymund Dadpaas.
The Sandiganbayan Third Division issued arrest warrants in connection with alleged malversation of public funds for the two, along with others such as former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.
Meanwhile, Engineer Henry Alcantara, whom Hernandez and Mendoza were detained with, has yet to be turned over to the Department of Justice (DOJ), under its Witness Protection Program (WPP).
