Bong Go denies ties to Discayas: “Wala po akong tinatago”

Press Conference of Senator Christopher Lawrence T. Go (October 16, 2025) via Senate of the Philippines/Youtube.

Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Thursday denied any involvement in the alleged anomalous flood control projects linked to the Discayas, asserting that attempts to drag his name into the issue are baseless and politically motivated.

In a press conference on October 16, 2025 (Thursday), Go firmly denied any wrongdoing, saying he has nothing to hide and welcomes any investigation into the controversy.

“I welcome any investigation. Let the facts speak for themselves. Wala akong tinatago. Wala akong kinakatakutan dahil wala akong kasalanan. Hindi ako sangkot sa anumang anomalya. Ang aking sinumpaang tungkulin ay maglingkod sa bayan,” Go said.

Go was responding to questions surrounding the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) investigation into the Discayas’ alleged links with CLTG Builders—a construction firm reportedly owned by the senator’s family.

DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon earlier confirmed that the agency is looking into the possible connection between the Discayas and CLTG Builders following reports of irregularities in several flood control projects.

Remulla: “They are protecting Senator Bong Go”

On the same day, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, in an interview on DZRH’s Damdaming Bayan, claimed that the Discayas appeared to be protecting Senator Go by refusing to fully disclose details about their joint venture with CLTG Builders in Davao City.

Remulla revealed that the joint venture—allegedly worth ₱800 million—covered eight contracts entered into around 2016 or 2017.

“It’s a prohibited interest… It’s a conflict of interest case kaya hindi dapat ‘yan nangyari,” the Ombudsman said.

Go: “I do not know the Discayas”

Go strongly denied Remulla’s claim, stressing that he does not personally know the Discayas and had no involvement in their business dealings.

“With all due respect to the Ombudsman, sinusuportahan po natin lahat ng imbestigasyon at I do not know the Discayas,” he said.

The senator added that he himself questioned the Discayas and their alleged connection to CLTG Builders during previous Senate hearings on infrastructure projects.

“May pagkukulang ang Discaya, kasuhan niyo. Wala po akong pakialam,” Go emphasized.

Go reiterated that he supports the Ombudsman’s investigation and urged authorities to identify and hold accountable those truly responsible for the alleged irregularities.
