Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Thursday denied having broken any law—before man or God—and having had official ties with law enforcement, following rumors of an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against him.

In a statement, he said he leaves the matter up to God.

“Ipinagpapasa-Diyos ko na lamang po ang lahat. Buong buhay ko, wala po akong nilabag na anumang batas ng tao o batas ng Diyos,” the senator declared.

He reasoned that matters that concerned law enforcement were never part of his mandate, expressing hope that the issue will not be leveraged for politics.

“Police matters have never been part of my mandate. I hope and pray na hindi mapupulitika ang issue hinggil sa sinasabing ICC warrant daw laban sa akin,” he said, assuring that the public can continue to count on his service as a public servant.

“Hindi ko sasayangin ang tiwalang ibinigay sa akin ng 27 milyong Pilipino,” he said.

On Wednesday, Davao 1st District Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte said in a post on social media that a “highly reliable source” informed him of ICC arrest warrants issued against Go and two former police officers.

The arrest warrant was issued in connection with alleged crimes against humanity committed under former President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration. Go, and Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa—who is currently in hiding to evade arrest—were known as the former president’s close associates.
