A bomb threat reported at the National Teachers College (NTC) in Quiapo, Manila, on February 19, 2026, was declared a false alarm after a thorough inspection by authorities, officials confirmed.

The District Explosive and Canine Unit (DECU) of the Manila Police District received a call at around 12:50 p.m. from the school’s security manager regarding a suspicious email alleging the presence of a bomb on campus.

Responding officers immediately coordinated with personnel from the Barbosa Police Station to secure the area.

DECU officers conducted a meticulous sweep of the campus along J. Nepomuceno Street, including school buildings, gates, walkways, and nearby parked vehicles. Specialized explosive detection teams and canine units were deployed to ensure no hazardous items were present. By 2:00 p.m., authorities confirmed no explosives were found, and the situation remained calm and under control.

In addition, the Mobile Patrollers of MC-09, led by PMSg Oquila and Pat Barnobal, conducted police presence and area monitoring starting around 1:10 p.m. at NTC along Legarda St. corner Nepomuceno St.

The operation was supervised by PCMS Adrian Barro under the guidance of PMAJ Kherwin Udtuijan Evangelista, AC, DTMU. Authorities said this proactive patrolling helps deter criminal activities, maintain public order, and strengthen community trust.

School officials and the police continue to investigate the source of the threatening email to prevent future incidents. Authorities also reminded the public to report suspicious messages and rely on verified information to avoid unnecessary panic, emphasizing that coordinated efforts between law enforcement and schools are key to maintaining a safe environment.
