The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has served a search warrant on Tuesday morning, September 2, at the compound of contractor Sarah Discaya in Pasig City, following revelations that her family owns 28 luxury cars.

In a statement, the BOC confirmed it has launched an investigation into the vehicles, citing possible violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).

"Any irregularity in the importation of luxury vehicles, such as misdeclaration or non-payment of duties and taxes, will be subject to enforcement actions under the CMTA," BOC stated.

After Discaya admitted that they own 28 luxury cars, Senator Jinggoy Estrada asked the dealer of the cars, where later on revealed by Senator Tito Sotto that one of the dealers issues smuggled cars.

Discaya admitted ownership of the vehicles during a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing, where Senator Jinggoy Estrada questioned the source of the cars. Later, Senator Tito Sotto disclosed that one of the identified dealers had previously been linked to smuggled vehicles.

According to the BOC, 12 of the luxury cars of the Discaya’s were not registered in their database and have no records.
