The Bureau of Customs–Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) has intercepted "three abandoned inbound parcels containing various illegal drugs" during an operation at a warehouse in Pasay City.

According to RH Boy Gonzales' report, the operation was led by BOC-NAIA in cooperation with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, on November 27.

According to BOC-NAIA, the shipments were all misdeclared and contained approximately 280 grams of marijuana kush, 394 cannabis tablets, and 77 grams of amphetamine.

The confiscated drugs have already been turned over to PDEA for further investigation and for the filing of cases under Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act No. 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

District Collector Atty. Yasmin Mapa emphasized that the agency continues to strengthen border protection measures to prevent the entry of prohibited substances into the country.

"This is part of our continuous commitment to keep our ports secure and to protect the public from harmful substances," she said.

Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno added that the Bureau has enhanced its systems, coordination, and security to ensure that drug shipments are intercepted before reaching to the communities.

"Our mandate to secure the nation's borders goes beyond routine enforcement, it requires constant improvement, cooperation, and readiness. We are investing in better systems, stronger coordination, and more robust safeguards to ensure that illegal drugs are stopped long before they reach our communities," Nepomuceno noted.
