Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno has reiterated the agency's strict enforcement of its "No Take" policy, which prohibits bribery and any form of illegal monetary transactions within the bureau.
In a public statement, Nepomuceno emphasized that corruption will not be tolerated under his leadership, whether it involves Customs personnel or stakeholders.
"This is a shared responsibility. I expect all parties inside and outside the BOC to uphold the same standards of integrity," he said.
"The 'No Take' policy is a standing commitment of my administration, and any violation will be addressed with the utmost firmness and urgency."
The commissioner made it clear that the policy is non-negotiable and will be enforced throughout his entire term. He also urged importers, customs brokers, and members of the trade industry to fully cooperate in the fight against corruption.
"We cannot win the fight against corruption if stakeholders themselves continue to offer bribes or enter into under-the-table deals," Nepomuceno said.
He encouraged the private sector to report any suspicious or corrupt practices they encounter, assuring the public that accountability will be imposed on all, regardless of their role.
"Let this be clear: those who choose to engage in corrupt practices, regardless of their role, will be held accountable," he added.
The BOC said it remains committed to building a culture of integrity, professionalism, and transparency, and is banking on the active cooperation of stakeholders to ensure clean and fair trade practices.
