A “Blue Ribbon” committee event initiated by a bloc led by Cayetano-bloc was canceled Tuesday, June 16, while the venue hosting the gathering stressed it had no affiliation with the organizers or the subject matter.
In an official statement, Doublegem EDSA Garden Events Place said the scheduled event would “no longer proceed as originally planned,” clarifying that it only served as an independent venue provider.
“We would also like to reiterate that Doublegem EDSA Garden Events Place has no affiliation whatsoever with the organizers, participants, or subject matter of the event,” the management said. “Our role was solely that of an independent events venue provider.”
The venue added that any updates or future arrangements would be communicated through “appropriate official channels.”
The so-called “blue ribbon hearing,” organized under a Cayetano-led bloc, had been set for June 16 and was expected to feature individuals linked to ongoing discussions on alleged irregularities in government projects.
Before the cancellation was announced, several personalities had already arrived at the site, including former Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson and Sen. Imee Marcos, among others.
Access to the compound was later restricted by a caretaker, who barred entry as uncertainty grew over the status of the event.
