A Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) personnel were arrested in Tondo, Manila, after a 911 emergency call led authorities to respond to an alleged incident of firearm threat and indiscriminate firing on May 15, 2026.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that the 31-year-old BJMP officer was arrested for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 11926, or the Anti-Indiscriminate Firing Act; grave threat under Article 282; and alarms and scandals under Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code.

According to investigators, operatives from the Don Bosco Police Community Precinct responded immediately after receiving a Unified 911 call reporting gunfire inside a residential area in Barangay 68, Tondo.

Upon arrival, a 46-year-old female complainant alleged that the suspect, reportedly intoxicated, went to her residence while searching for his girlfriend and later entered the house.

The suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim and fired a shot toward the ground, causing panic in the community.

A follow-up operation later led to the suspect’s arrest at his residence in Barangay 121, Tondo. Authorities recovered a 9mm pistol, a magazine loaded with five live rounds, one fired slug, a firearm license, and a License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF).

The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and opted to remain silent. He was taken to Gat Andres Bonifacio Medical Center for medical examination before inquest proceedings at the Manila Prosecutor’s office.

Authorities also credited the swift response to the Unified 911 system, which helped ensure the immediate arrest of the suspect and prevented further escalation of the incident.
