The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) reported a gross collection of ₱198.755 billion in March 2026, marking an 11.87% increase compared to the same month last year.

Based on preliminary data as of April 13, the agency said collections rose by ₱21.086 billion year-on-year.

Tax refunds also surged during the period, reaching ₱11.368 billion in March 2026—more than five times higher than the amount recorded in the same month last year.

Because of the higher refund payments, the BIR’s net collection stood at ₱187.387 billion, reflecting a 6.68% increase from the previous year.

The agency said that while higher refunds affected net growth, they also reflect the government’s effort to return more funds to taxpayers and businesses amid the ongoing energy crisis.

Charlito Martin Mendoza said the agency continues to follow the administration’s directive to ensure steady government revenue to support public services.
