The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has filed a tax evasion complaint before the Department of Justice (DOJ) against former presidential spokesperson Atty. Herminio "Harry" Roque Jr., his wife Mylah Reyes Roque, and his associate, Percival Sazon Ortega, over alleged tax irregularities involving Biancham Holdings and Trading, Inc.
According to the BIR, the respondents allegedly failed to file the required tax returns and pay the correct taxes related to the transfer of shares of stock and the increase in the company’s authorized capital stock.
The agency estimated the total tax deficiency at more than ₱3.35 million, inclusive of surcharges and interest.
The complaint was filed under Sections 254 and 255 of the National Internal Revenue Code, which cover willful attempts to evade or defeat taxes and failure to file tax returns.
The BIR said the move underscores its ongoing efforts to strengthen tax enforcement and ensure accountability among taxpayers, particularly in corporate transactions involving significant financial transactions.
