Bicolano radio announcer Noel Bellen Samar passed away on the afternoon of October 21, after suffering five gunshot wounds.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) and Samar’s family confirmed the 54-year-old’s passing despite doctors’ efforts to keep Samar alive, reported RH 18 Ruel Saldico.
On Monday, Samar was repeatedly shot in the torso while riding a motorcycle in Guinobatan, Albay. Critically injured, he was rushed to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital in Legazpi City.
The PNP formed a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) on Tuesday to find the suspect behind the fatal shooting. Authorities believe the incident may have been motivated in connection to Samar’s professional or personal life.
Samar was the host of a commentary blocktime program called “Bull’s Eye” in Legazpi, said Saldico.
