As the Holy Week travel rush begins on Palm Sunday, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) has advised passengers to arrive at airports at least three hours before their scheduled flights and secure all necessary documents in advance to avoid delays.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said additional frontline personnel have been deployed across major international airports to handle the expected surge in passenger volume during the peak travel period.

The move supports the directive of the administration to improve government service efficiency during high-traffic seasons.

Travelers are reminded of key requirements, including Emigration Clearance Certificates (ECC) for foreign nationals who have stayed in the country for over six months and re-entry permits for ACR I-Card holders.

Government employees traveling abroad must present travel authority from their agencies, while minors traveling alone are required to secure clearance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The BI also encouraged the use of its e-gates system and the free eTravel registration platform to speed up processing and reduce congestion at immigration counters.

Authorities emphasized that early preparation and timely airport arrival are crucial to ensuring smooth and hassle-free travel during the Holy Week exodus.
