Award-winning actress Nadine Lustre on Tuesday expressed her support for former Vice President and now-Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, saying she would back Robredo again if she decides to run for president in the 2028 elections.
“Definitely. There’s no question about that. For me, she’s really the best candidate for the presidency,” Lustre said in an interview on Tuesday, February 10.
Lustre, who supported Robredo during her previous campaign, reaffirmed her commitment, adding that “sometimes the best presidents are those who don’t want to run.“
Meanwhile, Liberal Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima expressed hope that Robredo might still reconsider a presidential run.
“We are not losing hope na magbabago pa ang desisyon ni VP leni na tumakbo ulit sa 2028. Because for me, she’s the most winnable among oppositions possible or potential opposition candidates,” Lustre said.
The actress made the remarks during a joint appearance with Sen. de Lima at the House of Representatives, where they filed bills aimed at strengthening the enforcement of animal welfare laws and establishing a national plant-based health program.
De Lima also filed a resolution directing the Committee on Natural Resources to conduct an inquiry in aid of legislation addressing current environmental challenges.
The actress, a known advocate for animal welfare and environmental protection, has been active in promoting initiatives that align with her advocacy.
