Clients looking to host memorable events often turn to event management companies to bring their visions to life, expecting captivating, Pinterest-worthy setups and awe-struck guests. But what does it take to meet these towering demands? What happens behind all the glitz and glamour?
In an interview on the program Scene Zone, Loyva Fernandez, Managing Partner of Planogram Events shared some of the biggest challenges in the events industry.
According to Fernandez, one of the common problems in the industry is the mismatch between budget and expectations.
“Thankfully, I’ve encountered very few na ang hihingin sa iyo is yung buong mundo, pero ang kaya lang palang bayaran ay isang maliit lang na piraso noon. So, di ba, you can’t really give them the stars when their budget is really for freckles,” she said.
She also explained that some clients prefer “Instagrammable” setups even if they are not practical for the actual event.
“I think kapag sanay ka na gumawa ng events, you already know what works. Sinasabi pa lang sa’yo, puwede mo nang sabihin, ‘Sorry, no.’ It looks good, visually, it looks good. Pero the execution will be really, really horrible,“ she explained.
Despite the stress, deadlines, and intense pressure in the industry, Fernandez also noted that it is important to stay strong, as all outputs will be criticized harshly, adding that criticism and personal sacrifices are already part of working in the events business.
