The issuance of Beep Concessionary Cards for students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) will be temporarily suspended at all LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 stations starting Monday, March 30.
According to its online post, the suspension will remain in effect until further notice.
The decision stems from a significant decline in the distribution of concessionary cards over the past few months. The company also cited the recent implementation of a 50% fare discount for all passengers on the LRT-2 and MRT-3 lines, which began on March 23, as a primary factor for the pause.
While the issuance of new concessionary cards is paused, existing cardholders can still use their cards to avail of their mandated discounts.
Commuters who do not have a concessionary card but are eligible for discounts are advised to purchase Single Journey Tickets (SJTs) at station tellers by presenting a valid ID to claim their mandated 20% discount.
