Caritas Philippines, a non-profit organization, is set to mark the 50th anniversary of its flagship Lenten program, Alay Kapwa, with a grand fundraising concert on July 8, 2025, Tuesday, at 6 PM at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The concert aimed to raise awareness and support for Alay Kapwa’s newest initiative, the BE 1N A MILLION campaign, which seeks to gather one million donor-partners nationwide to uplift the lives of the marginalized and vulnerable communities in the Philippines.

On June 4, the event titled “Sa Kapwa Ko ay Alay: 50 Taon ng Pag-asa” held at the University of Santo Tomas (UST), President of Caritas Philippines Kidapawan Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo reflected on how, over the past 50 years, the Lenten program has evolved from a modest appeal for charity into a powerful nationwide movement rooted in faith, compassion, and active service to others.

“Today, we celebrate a momentous milestone—50 years of Alay Kapwa,” the Bishop said.

The event will feature the folk-pop band Ben&Ben, who were recently chosen as the new mission advocates for Alay Kapwa.

“Ben&Ben’s music speaks to the soul, and their values—of love, hope, and community—are deeply aligned with our mission,” said Bishop Bagaforo.

He further noted that the involvement of Ben&Ben is expected to resonate strongly with audiences, particularly the youth, and inspire them to take part in the mission of helping others.

Attendees can expect a night of meaningful performances, including the live rendition of the newly launched Alay Kapwa anthem, “Sa Kapwa Ko Ay Alay,” written by Robert Labayen and composed by Jonathan Manalo.

Bishop Bagaforo emphasized that the upcoming concert goes beyond entertainment, highlighting its deeper message of unity and compassion.

Numerous Filipino celebrities are also contributing their talents and time to a concert performance to raise funds for Caritas PH beneficiaries, including Ms. Charo Santos, Jolina Magdangal, Barbie Forteza, Melai Cantiveros-Francisco, and more talented personalities and groups.

Proceeds from the concert will go directly to Alay Kapwa’s programs, which include disaster response, livelihood support, health services, and educational assistance for marginalized communities.

Caritas Philippines is inviting all Filipinos to support the event, either by attending the concert or donating through official campaign channels.

“To our young people: this is your moment. You can be part of something bigger - right here, right now,” Bishop Bagaforo added.
