Senator Ronald 'Bato' De La Rosa has reportedly requested to borrow the Senate Mansion in Baguio City, but was denied due to ongoing repairs.
The senator asked to borrow the mansion for his family’s stay during the upcoming CSAFP Cup 2026 Shooting Competition, scheduled from March 26 to 29 at the PMA firing range.
The request, dated March 12, was sent to Senate President Vicente 'Tito' Sotto III and has since circulated among the public.
The letter was obtained by a news outlet and raised eyebrows as Sotto neither confirmed nor denied its release, citing "privileged communication,” and referred the matter to the Senate Secretariat.
In an update, RH Raymund Dadpaas reported that Senate Secretary Mark Llandro "Dong" Mendoza confirmed that the Senate has denied Dela Rosa's request, stating that the mansion is undergoing repair.
Despite the request, Sotto confirmed that Sen. Bato had signed Senate Resolution 343, urging the administration to present contingency plans addressing the ongoing oil price crisis.
Sen. Bato has not reported to the Senate since November 11, 2025, following reports of a warrant of arrest issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
His request to use the Baguio Senate Mansion was ultimately denied, with Senate Secretary Mark Llandro 'Dong' Mendoza explaining that the mansion is currently under repair.
The incident highlights the senator’s continued absence from Senate duties while remaining active in legislative measures and public appearances, raising questions about his engagement with official responsibilities.
