Batanes PDRRMO warns of possible rocket debris from China via Facebook.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Batanes has issued a warning to residents regarding the possible fall of rocket debris from China tonight, as reported by RH Edniel Parrosa.

According to the advisory, China’s Wenchang Space Station in Hainan is scheduled to launch the Long March 5 rocket between 10:22 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities have identified two potential drop zones for the rocket debris—both located in the waters within or near the vicinity of the Subtang area in Batanes.

The PDRRMO is urging fishermen and other seafarers to exercise extreme caution and avoid sailing near the possible landing zones.

The agency also warned the public against touching or handling any debris that may be found, as these materials could contain hazardous chemicals or residues from the rocket. It further advised residents to immediately report any such sightings to local authorities.

The expected drop zones are approximately 272.8 kilometers west of Sabtang and 267 kilometers east of Sabtang.
