Batanes Representative Ciriaco Gato Jr., chairperson of the House Committee on Health, died on Monday, September 21.

Gato, the lone district representative of Batanes, was a physician and served as chairperson of the House Committee on Health. He was also the principal author of several health-related measures filed in the House of Representatives.

Based on initial information, Gato reportedly died of a heart attack.
