Tropical Depression “Basyang” has weakened into a low pressure area (LPA) but continues to bring heavy rainfall over several parts of the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In Weather Advisory No. 32 issued at 5 a.m. on February 7, 2026, PAGASA said the weather disturbance, now downgraded to an LPA, will still trigger significant rainfall, particularly in western and central sections of the country.
Due to the LPA, heavy rainfall of 50 to 100 millimeters is forecast today over Palawan, Oriental Mindoro, Negros Occidental, Antique, Iloilo, and Guimaras. Tomorrow, the same rainfall amount is expected over Palawan.
PAGASA also warned of heavy rains caused by a shear line. Today, Quezon and Camarines Norte may experience 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall. By tomorrow, heavy rain is forecast over Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Camarines Norte.
On Monday, February 9, the shear line is expected to bring heavy rainfall of 50 to 100 millimeters to Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Northern Samar.
The state weather bureau noted that rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas, and that flooding and landslide risks could be increased in areas with significant antecedent rainfall.
PAGASA urged local disaster risk reduction and management offices to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. It also said regional offices may issue Heavy Rainfall Warnings, Thunderstorm Advisories, and other severe weather bulletins as needed.
Unless significant changes occur, PAGASA said the next weather advisory will be released at 5:00 p.m. today.
