The Barretto family matriarch, Estrella “Inday” Barretto, has died at 89, her family confirmed on Thursday, January 29.

Known as Mommy Inday in showbiz circles, the late Barretto matriarch was the mother of actresses Claudine, Marjorie, and Gretchen, and grandmother to Julia Barretto.

On Thursday evening, Claudine posted a slideshow of photos with her mother and son, captioning the post with, “Oh Mom.”

The post was followed by a video of her talking to Inday at the hospital. The caption read, “Mommy, we’re gonna be okay I promise!”

Early Friday, January 30, Claudine clarified in a Facebook post that she and her siblings chose peace over everything.

“Magulo man po kami but in Grief we are all United. We all did our part. JJ, Michie, Gia, G, Marjorie & all the apos pati apo sa tuhod. Pantay pantay inalagaan ang mommy. We choose Peace over everything. We don't need flowers. Your Prayers all mean the world to each & everyone of us. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat,” she wrote.

“Goodbye, Mom. We will be ok. How can we not? We are Inday Barretto's children. The strongest, most loving Mother anyone could ask for,” she added.

Meanwhile, Claudine’s brother, JJ, also posted on Facebook, uploading a lit candle with the caption, “Rest in peace, Mom. I love you.”

Inday’s recent appearance was on an interview for Ogie Diaz’s YouTube channel last year, where she discussed motherhood, her relationships with her three daughters, Claudine, Gretchen, and Marjorie, including the rift among the three siblings.

The cause of Inday’s death and details about her wake have yet to be revealed by the Barretto siblings as of writing.
