Renewed chaos in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) may erupt if political party agreements in electing a new chief minister are not observed on October 30, reported RH 19 Jun Dimacutac on Tuesday.

Election lawyer Atty. Romulo Macalintal said he hopes all members of the Bangsamoro Parliament adhere to their respective in-party agreements to avoid conflict in choosing their new leader.

Furthermore, Romulo said anyone may question a representative’s vote that diverges from their party’s agreement, while the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) may decide whether to count the diverging vote.

The lawyer emphasized the need for cohesion among parties in order to avoid wider, severe violence in the region.
