The Bangsamoro government has created an inter-agency task force to mitigate the impact of rising fuel prices across the region.
Under Executive Order No. 3, Series of 2026, signed on March 27, Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua established the Bangsamoro Oil Crisis Impact Task Force (BOCITF) to lead a coordinated response to the escalating oil crisis.
The move aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s earlier declaration of a State of National Energy Emergency.
The decision followed emergency Cabinet meetings assessing the effects of global oil price volatility, supply constraints, and geopolitical tensions, which have driven up transport fares, food costs, and power expenses.
The task force will monitor oil price trends, evaluate their impact on key sectors, and recommend short- and long-term interventions, including fuel conservation measures, targeted subsidies, and social protection programs.
It will also assess policy options on fuel importation and determine if a regional state of emergency is necessary.
The initiative aims to stabilize essential services and protect vulnerable sectors as part of the government’s broader effort to ensure economic resilience in the Bangsamoro region.
