A father won over netizens’ hearts after attending his young daughter’s moving-up ceremony in Barangay Carmundo, Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro, in simple, everyday clothes—and barefoot.

In a viral video taken by Edward Fatallar, Tatay Talon, as reports call him, is seen proudly holding 5-year-old Medios Sam-Oy’s hand as they lined up for her kindergarten diploma.

Medios reportedly received the “Happy Helper” award for her cheerful attitude and willingness to offer help.

The comments came streaming in, with one netizen pointing out that although Tatay Talon was in modest attire and barefoot, his daughter was wearing a uniform that looked new, while others remarked on how proud and supportive Tatay Talon was of Medios, having worked diligently to afford her education and attending her ceremony without feeling the need to show off.

“‘Yan ang magulang inuuna ang kapakanan ng anak. (Si) tatay hindi magarbo damit, wala tsinelas pero (si) baby girl naka shoes, maayos with headband pa. Congrats tatay & baby girl,” said a netizen.

“Congrats… ‘Yung ibang magulang, nahihiya pang samahan ang mga anak sa pagtatapos sa school. ‘Yung iba nangungutang pa para (lang) makapagyabang…” said another.

The content creator, who took their video, with financial support from some netizens, accompanied Tatay Talon to a grocery store to buy goods for his family.
