House prosecution spokesperson Robert “Ace” Barbers questioned the relevance of Senator-Judge Robin Padilla’s question about financial forensic analyst Alexander Cabrera’s meeting with former vice president and Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo during the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday, October 12.

During the proceedings, Padilla asked Cabrera to confirm whether he had met with Robredo in December 2025. Cabrera answered in the affirmative.

Reacting to the exchange during the House prosecution panel’s press conference after the hearing, Barbers said the meeting had no apparent connection to the impeachment case being heard by the Senate.

“With all due respect sa ating Senator Judge Padilla, I don't see the relevance. Ano bang kinalalaman nun? Lalo na po ito ay 2025 na pangyayari,” Barbers said.

He noted that Cabrera might simply have been invited to or attended the same gathering as Robredo, stressing that the encounter did not appear relevant to the proceedings.

“It's not, in fact, relevant dito sa nililitis natin sa impeachment court. So, I don't know. With all due respect to Senator Padilla, I really don't see the connection or the relevance in that statement,” he added.

Meanwhile, when asked whether he would continue to stand by Cabrera amid questions raised during the trial about his forensic reports, House prosecution panel member Chel Diokno expressed confidence in the witness.

“Well, without speaking to the merits of the case, let me just say that I have full confidence,” Diokno said.
