The Supreme Court penalized a bar review coach for spreading misinformation about the 2023 Bar Exams, according to a Friday report by RH 9 Tina Nolasco.

Bar coach and the administrator of Facebook group “Bar Law for Dummies” Edgar Dizon, who disseminated false claims regarding the 2023 examinations on Facebook, was found guilty of indirect contempt.

In a Per Curiam decision (one reached by a group of judges), the High Court En Banc imposed on Dizon a fine of ₱30,000 and ordered the removal of his name from the 2016 Bar Exam roll of passers.

The issue began on September 21, 2023, when a post by Facebook user “Tsidkenu Dizon,” claiming that year’s Bar Exams were to be checked and graded using artificial intelligence (AI), went viral.

Furthermore, the post advised examinees to always begin their answers with “Yes” or “No,” alleging these were the first words the AI would look for.

The Supreme Court said the post caused anxiety among the examinees and led to confusion.

In addition, the claim disrupted the operations of the Office of the 2023 Bar Chair (BCO), led by Associate Justice Ramon Paul L. Hernando, which was obligated to investigate the matter and issue an official clarification.
