The Senate on Wednesday, June 3, formally appointed new key administrative officials following a broader leadership reshuffle within the chamber.
Renato Bantug Jr. was officially installed as Senate Secretary, while Police Major General Alfred Sotto Corpus was named as the new Sergeant-at-Arms.
Bantug replaced Jose Luis Montales, who had earlier been appointed by Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano. Montales previously served as Cayetano’s administrator during his tenure in Taguig.
The changes form part of a series of adjustments in Senate leadership and administrative positions amid ongoing institutional restructuring and shifting alignments within the chamber.
The latest appointments come alongside recent developments in Senate leadership, including the election of new committee chairpersons and other key positions following the declaration of quorum.
Earlier in the day, Sen. Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian was also elected Senate President Pro Tempore and designated as acting Senate President amid continued absences of key Senate officials.
The reshuffle reflects ongoing efforts to stabilize Senate operations and ensure continuity of legislative and administrative functions.
