Former Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV is officially returning to the Philippine Senate after securing a spot in the 2025 midterm elections.
Running under the Koalisyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino (KNP), Aquino placed second in the highly competitive Senate “Magic 12,” earning 20,637,019 votes as of 8:09 a.m. on May 14, according to the partial and unofficial results of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Aquino, a long time advocate of youth empowerment, education reform and inclusive economic growth, expressed deep gratitude to his supporters following the election on May 12.
"Unti-unti po nating naiakyat ang ating estado. Gawa po ng tulong ng Diyos at syempre ng sipag, tiyaga at pagtutulungan ng taumbayan kasama syempre ang kabataan,” Aquino said in a video message on Tuesday night, May 13.
He pledged to focus his work on lifting Filipino families out of poverty and improving national livelihood programs.
"Ngayon po napakalaki na po ng ating madato at sisiguraduhin po natin seseryosohin po natin ang trabaho ng pagiging senador ng Republika ng Pilipinas at magtatrabaho tayo para sa pag-angat ng pamilyang Pilipino," the former Senator emphasized.
Just a day after the election results were confirmed, Aquino already signaled his readiness to get back to work, promising a results-driven and inclusive leadership style.
“Naipanalo na po natin ‘to. Ngayon naman po, simulan na ang trabaho,” the former senator said.
His return to the Senate marks a significant political comeback after failing to secure a seat in the 2019 elections.
Aquino is known for authoring the free college tuition law and several key economic measures during his previous term.
"Ako po si Senador Bam Aquino, Senador ng Pilipinas, Senador para sa lahat ng Pilipino," Aquino concluded, declaring his comeback bid.
