Efi Kalogirou, the estranged wife of AteneTab Baldwin has released a video online claiming she had previously warned Ateneo de Manila University that “children were not safe” under her husband’s supervision.
This comes after Baldwin spoke out on Friday, expressing his apology and saying he had failed as a coach and leader, following the deaths of Ateneo student-athletes Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili during a team activity in Dipaculao, Aurora earlier this week.
In the video, Efi Kalogirou said she had repeatedly raised concerns with university officials in earlier years, claiming that she had cautioned them about the safety of student-athletes.
She alleged that instead of being heard, she experienced “intimidation” and “silencing” after making her concerns known.
“At the time, I repeatedly told the Ateneo University that children are not safe around him. The university campus, and they proceeded to launch a campaign of intimidation and silencing,” she said in the recording released by her legal representatives.
Kalogirou also disclosed details about her personal relationship with Baldwin, saying they have been married since 2011 but that she separated from him in 2020, citing safety concerns for herself and her children.
“Hello, my name is Efi and I have been married to Tom Baldwin since 2011. I'm officially still married to him. However, in early 2020, I had to flee away from Tab for the sake of myself and my kids to keep us safe,” she said.
“This video is because of his latest interview and when he talks about his family, I want to make sure that he doesn't represent me or my kids,” Kalogirou emphasized.
Kalogirou also gave a message to two Ateneo basketball players.
“For Rovelyn and Elias, the deaths of your kids were not only predictable, but preventable. The bodies of your kids are still warm. And he's talking about moving on. That's terrible,” she said in the video.
She likewise called on Philippine authorities and the public to investigate the circumstances surrounding the matter and to examine the decisions that allowed Baldwin’s continued involvement with student-athletes despite her claims.
“I urge the Filipinos and the police there to keep asking why he was still allowed around children in spite of these warnings,“ she added.
Meanwhile, Giota Kalogirou, the daughter of Efi, also spoke out against her stepfather this Saturday, June 13, following the release of her mother Kalogirou’s statement.
In her repost on X, she mentioned Epok Quimpo, the team manager of the Ateneo Men’s Basketball team, and revealed how he allegedly laughed at her mother after she warned that Baldwin was ‘dangerous’ to students.
@epokquimps remember how you were laughing when we told you Tab was DANGEROUS to kids.

Remember laughing at my mom?
Remember putting him inside the Ateneo dorms and us begging you to take him out?
Now you have two funerals to explain. https://t.co/xA8Ba0Y2HS
As of writing, Ateneo de Manila University has not issued a detailed public response to Kalogirou’s allegations.
