Resigned Ateneo coach Tab Baldwin, team manager Epok Quimpo and three other assistant coaches remain in the Philippines and are under monitoring, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Friday.
According to a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort, Immigration spokesperson Dana Sandoval said the BI has not recorded any recent foreign travel by Baldwin, Quimpo and the other assistant coaches, who were included in an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO) issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Sandoval said the BI has already received the ILBO from DOJ and has entered the names into its database for stricter monitoring.
She added that if any of the individuals are spotted attempting to leave the country, the bureau will immediately coordinate with relevant government agencies for proper action.
Sandoval further clarified that individuals under an ILBO are still allowed to leave the country, but their movements are closely monitored. They will only be stopped from departing if a hold departure order or arrest warrant is issued.
Baldwin, Quimpo and the three assistant coaches are among those being monitored in connection with the ongoing case linked to the deaths of two Ateneo student-athletes, Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili, during a basketball team boot camp in Dipaculao, Aurora on June 8.
Meanwhile, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag said Baldwin is expected to comply with a subpoena after failing to appear on Tuesday.
Nine players from the Ateneo Blue Eagles attended a scheduled appearance on Thursday, among more than 20 individuals subpoenaed by the NBI in connection with the incident.
