Senator Alan Peter Cayetano quips about the persistent ambitions within the chamber to compete for its top post during the senate session on Monday, September 15.
“2007 pa ako andito sa Senado, wala pa akong nakita na minority na ayaw maging majority,” Cayetano said, pointing out that almost every senator aspires to take on the Senate presidency.
Addressing Senator Lito Lapid, whom called “Supremo”, Cayetano teased about the numbers he needed to secure leadership amid his no interest to take the post.
Lapid has been in the Senate for almost two decades, during 2004 until 2016 and re-elected again in 2019 midterm elections.
Cayetano’s remarks came amid ongoing discussions in the chamber on key legislative matters, and alleged reshuffling of leadership.
