Visitors have been coming in and out of Baguio Public Cemetery along Naguilian Road, the city’s largest public burial site. As the Undas season unfolds, authorities have stepped up measures to ensure the safety and order of the thousands paying respects to their loved ones.
According to RH Romy Gonzales, the Baguio City Police have deployed personnel at the cemetery starting October 29 to monitor crowd movements and secure the premises.
Officers are conducting thorough inspections of visitors’ belongings to prevent the entry of prohibited items and deadly weapons.
In line with local regulations, cleaning of graves is no longer allowed on the day itself, as residents were given the chance to do so in the days leading up to Undas.
Meanwhile, sales of flowers in the city’s Central Business District have been sluggish. Prices have reportedly dropped, but demand remains low, reflecting the smaller turnout of buyers this season.
