The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) has canceled the Bacolod MassKara’s participation in the remainder of the 2026 season amid allegations of game fixing and manipulation.
The league announced the decision Thursday night following Bacolod’s controversial 100-64 loss to the Bulacan Kuyas, a game that raised red flags after the team failed to score in the final seven minutes.
In a statement, the MPBL said players and coaches found to be involved in the alleged irregularities have been permanently banned from the league.
“The MPBL stands firm against any attempt to tarnish the sanctity of Philippine basketball,” the league said. “Swift and decisive action will continue to be taken against any conduct that threatens the trust of our fans, team owners, and the public.”
The Games and Amusements Board has also launched an investigation into the incident to determine the full extent of the alleged violations and ensure due process is observed.
The MPBL has not yet disclosed the identities of those implicated as the probe continues.
