Former child star Awra Briguela addressed a wave of online backlash after a TikTok post she shared on December 28, which was meant to reflect her personal growth and transformation, drew a surge of malicious and hurtful comments about her physical appearance.
One particular remark targeting her teeth, which read, “yung mouthpiece talaga nagdala,” caught attention after Awra fired back with, “yung ngipin ko limang taon na sahod mo.” Her response quickly sparked discussion across X (formerly Twitter).

The issue further escalated when an X user criticized Awra’s reaction, posting, “There is a better way naman siguro to answer that basher. Remember nagka-kaso si Awra before. Sana nagpakabait nalang siya, rather than being matapobre.”
Despite the criticism, many netizens came to Awra’s defense, pointing out that she has long been the target of daily bashing. Supporters noted that people often remain silent in the face of repeated harassment, yet expect her to “be the bigger person” the moment she finally speaks up for herself.
Others added that the basher deserved Awra’s response and emphasized that the X post’s author had no right to dictate how she should react to being attacked online.
On January 3, Awra directly addressed the issue by responding to the viral X post with a lengthy caption that read, “You’ve all been bullying me online, picking on me every single day. You’ve been transphobic and homophobic toward me, yet you never hear anything from me in response. I chose peace. I chose to ignore everything, even though I was getting hurt every single day, despite not doing anything to any of you.”
Awra further explained that she had tried for years to remain calm and take the high road despite enduring continuous bullying and discriminatory remarks. Supporters echoed her sentiments, saying people often overlook the effort of someone who is genuinely trying to grow, improve, and redeem themselves from past mistakes.
