

A hostage-taking incident took place in Mandaluyong City on Wednesday morning, September 16.
Chief of Mandaluyong City Police PCol. Reynan Patam confirmed the incident that occurred at the RJ Fran Building, E. Pantaleon Street, Barangay Barangka Drive, reported RH 9 Tina Nolasco.
Authorities successfully rescued the female victim, 52, after she called for help at around 9:30 a.m.
Personnel from the Barangay, Police Substation 4, Intelligence Unit, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, Tactical Motorcycle Riding Unit (TMRU), and the Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) immediately responded to the cry for help.
According to police investigation, the suspect was identified as a 43-year-old male resident of Santa Maria, Bulacan.
The suspect had just been released and had no personal ties to the victim.
He admitted to wanting to return behind bars, which was the motive for the crime.
Authorities confiscated a 10-inch kitchen knife from the suspect, who is now under the custody of the Mandaluyong City Police Station Custodial Facility Unit and facing Serious Illegal Detention and Violation of National Law No. 6, or the Illegal Possession of a Deadly Weapon.
